S&DWBA competitions

The Southampton & District Women's Bowling Association runs a full programme of competitions open to all female members of affiliated clubs. It is a great way of extending your experience and getting to know other clubs and players. Here's the list of competitions, with the day of the week they are usually played; just click on the title and you'll go direct to the relevant page.

Two things to remember - firstly, all S&DWBA competitions are whites with club shirts and secondly, you need to keep your diary free for the finals - 6 and 7 September 2019 - either as a player or to see how it's done.

Champion of Champions: (Monday) open only to the current club singles champions.

2 wood singles: (Sunday) open to all. A fast and furious one day event with consolation plate competition for first round losers

4 wood singles: (Monday) open to all

Championship pairs: (Friday) open to only the club singles runner up and whoever they pick from their club, but it cannot be the current club singles champion.

Pairs: (Friday) open to all

2 wood triples: (Wednesday) a one day, round robin event, open to all. A good day out

Triples: (Wednesday) open to all

Rinks: (Tuesday) open to all.

plus a Club Championship where clubs play against each other in 2 wood singles, singles, pairs, triples and rinks. The club winning of the most matches goes through to the next round.

The entry sheets will go up on the club noticeboard from the beginning of the outdoor season. The entry fee is £2 per person per competition, except the Club Championship which is free. Entries and payments are made through the club. The deadline for entries is 25 May.

There are two bits of information you should also get to know: the rules and the pattern of the rounds for each of the competitions. Don't be daunted, you'll soon get the hang of it and any of the more experienced members in the club will be glad to help with any queries. Do have a go.
